We lost our hardware store, office supply store, department store and drugstore, all of which were independently owned longtime fixtures of the downtown. What we had accomplished was the world\u2019s smallest department store in 900 square feet. Acme Mercantile supplied downtown residents, workers and destination shoppers with everything from novelties and toilet plungers to nylon stockings and dog food.<\/p>\n<p>Now ACME enters a new phase of life as an online store and vending at car shows such as the annual Detroit Autorama and Sins of Steel every June. Stay tuned for other exciting ACME events!<\/p>\n<p>Some of our popular items have been moved to our sister store <a title=\"Salon Vertigo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.salonvertigo.com\">SALON VERTIGO<\/a> at 212 South Fourth Ave., just 2 blocks away.
